Business English for professionals
Goal
Is English your second or maybe your third language? Perhaps you have a basic knowledge of the English language, but would like to speak and write with greater ease? This Business English for professionals course enables you to express yourself more confidently and professionally. Communicating with others in a professional context and in a language that is not your own requires extra attention. The friendliness and politeness that come naturally in your own language are often not easy to translate into English. In this course, we will highlight these subtle, but crucial differences and equip you with the language skills to deal with multi-cultural differences. We will provide you with the necessary tools to help you further your professional career.
Program Speaking skills
– What can you do to sound clearer and more confident?
– How can you agree/disagree professionally?
– How can you make a ‘strong’ point?
– How can you improve your social interaction and networking skills?
Writing skills (emails and letters)
– The best way to structure an email or letter in English.
– Creating a clear and natural flow in your English emails and letters.
– Useful phrases and sentences to start your text, making smooth transitions, and finishing on a polite and friendly note.
– Dealing with multicultural differences (e.g. politeness and indirect communication).
– Common mistakes and how to avoid them in your texts.
Vocabulary development
Learn how to activate your ‘passive’ vocabulary. You probably know more words in English than you think, but how can you learn to produce them spontaneously?
Collocations: two or more words that often go together. These combinations simply sound right to native English speakers, who use them all the time. For example, a warm welcome, to make your bed, to do your homework, to give a presentation.
