Marine Conservation & Sustainable Recreation
Fundacion Parke Nacional Aruba (FPNA) is the conservation management organization assigned with the management of the recently established Parke Marino Aruba, as Aruba’s marine environment is deteriorating it is crucial to preserve, protect, and restore Aruba’s unique biodiversity and aims to maintain and advance the condition and sustainability of ecosystem and habitats. Through this lecture, FPNA will present the integrated approach that they have adopted to tackle the current state of the marine environment and Parke Marino Aruba, as the human impact is a factor that we individually can manage best practices on how to reduce the recreation impact will be presented. It is the intention to raise consciousness about the marine environment and how to mitigate the human impact.

Mr. Giancarlo Nuñes, Marine Biologist MSc., Research & Conservation Manager. As the Research & Conservation Manager for Fundacion Parke Nacional Aruba, Mr. Nunes is in charge with understanding and conserving Aruba’s unique nature. The sustainability ambition of FPNA for the natural ecosystems in the upcoming years is to have sustainable natural ecosystems (marine & terrestrial) that are diverse, healthy, and resilient.
Mr. Tyson Lopez, Development Specialist MSc., Sustainability & Recreation Manager. As the Sustainability & Recreation Manager for Fundacion Parke Nacional Aruba, Mr. Lopez is in charge with creating memorable nature experiences within the protected areas. The sustainability ambition of FPNA for recreational experiences in the upcoming years is to connect and engage visitors with nature, through sustainable transformational experiences.
