Frequently asked questions
Application
Candidates must have a high school diploma (HAVO) or an advanced high school diploma (VWO) in order to apply for an undergraduate program at UA. A Bachelor (HBO) is required to apply for the Master’s program. Please note that requirements may vary, depending on the candidate’s chosen area of concentration.
The University of Aruba offers both undergraduate study programs and graduate study programs.
An online registration link opens on the UA website on May 15th. Follow these steps to complete your application:
- Visit the homepage and click on the link for online registration;
- You will be directed to the application portal of Osiris (our Student Progress Tracking System);
- If you’re a new student create an account and submit your application. If you’re already a student sign in to your account and submit your re-application;
- Once you have submitted your application, you will receive an email confirmation and instructions on how to submit any required hard-copy documents to the University.
The deadline for the regular application period is July 15th*. In certain cases, applications may be considered after the deadline; however, a late fee of AWG. 100,- will be added to the regular application fee.
*The University of Aruba reserves the right to deny any application submitted after the deadline.
You can check the status of your application in Osiris and you’ll be notified via email when the status of your application is updated.
Once you have met all requirements and submitted all the required documents for your chosen field of study, you will receive an acceptance letter.
You can not change your enrollment application. However, you can cancel it and submit a new one. Please inform the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) of any changes you make to your application (osa@ua.aw).
You can pass the Colloquium Doctum exam. The Colloquium Doctum is an entrance exam, offered at UA, to applicants who are at least 21 years old. Passing the exam serves to grant access to a study program in lieu of a diploma.
Call or email OSA to set up an appointment so you may enroll in the exam.
The exam is given in November and May each year. The registration deadline for the November exam is October 1st and the deadline for the May exam is March 1st.
The following documents must be presented at the time of registration:
- Copy of a valid identity document
- Original document of the National Public Registration (Censo AWG. 5,-)
- Official proof of payment*
- Fully completed registration form
*The entry fee for taking the Colloquium Doctum exam must be paid in advance. The examination fee per course is AWG. 125, except for the Dutch (CNaVT) exam which is AWG. 200.
The fee must be paid to UA’s RBC bank account #: 30.58.6463. Be sure to include your name, surname, and the payment description ‘Colloquium Doctum exam’. If you’re entitled to an exemption, the necessary partial certificates must be submitted. For more information on exemption contact the Office of student affairs.
UA students who are following a full degree and wish to add a minor or elective class should contact the Office of Educational Affairs (oea@ua.aw) for more information.
Audit students of a non-degree certificate program can apply at the Office of Student Affairs. The Dean of the study program will review the applications and eligible candidates will be notified.
Admission

Diplomas issued in Aruba are awarded by institutions that belong to the legally recognized educational system of Aruba (Inspectie Onderwijs (IO). Diplomas earned abroad will be certified by the issuing educational institution.
Once you complete the online registration and provide any necessary hard copy documents (by the July 15th deadline), it can take up to three weeks to receive your official acceptance letter.
Tuition fees

Learn more about our tuition feesThe tuition fee can be paid in two (2) installments. The first installment must be paid by September 1st (half of the tuition fee + administration + registration cost). The second installment must be paid by December 15th (the second half of the tuition fee).
Students who are applying for the Academic Foundation Year must pay the full tuition fee in one installment.
There are 3 methods to pay your tuition fee:
- Swipe at the receptionist
- Bank transfer
- Online transfer
If you pay your tuition by a bank/online transfer, you must provide a copy of your receipt by email or bring a hard copy to the Office of Financial Affairs.
Books
Books can be bought at the UA Bookstore located in the Library. You can order your books online and pick up your books at the Bookstore or you can visit the Bookstore directly at the Library. The Bookstore sells both new and used books. For more information contact bookstore@ua.aw.
Visit the web page of the study program of your choice for more information about the book costs for the respective study program.
If the Library Bookstore carries your study program’s books you can also visit the Bookstore and consult your study program’s book lists.
Student ID card
You will receive your Student ID Card immediately after you pay the tuition fee and submit proof of payment.
Yes, you can get a new student ID. You will have to submit a ‘Lost Form’ to the UA receptionist and pay a fee of AWG. 25.
Yes, you have to fill in the “Withdrawal Form” and hand in your Student ID Card at the Office of Student Affairs (OSA).
We recommend our students pass by the OSA office for an exit interview. The intention of the interview is to assist you if necessary.
ID is required for several UA student services such as the library, computer room, and the reservations of classrooms. You will also need to present your Student ID Card as proof of identity before exams.
UA Classrooms
UA students can reserve a study room on the UA campus. Interested students should visit the receptionist with their student ID. You can also email a reservation request to info@ua.aw.
Student email address
Each student is assigned an email address at the University of Aruba to be used for all UA communication. Important announcements are distributed via your student email. You are expected to consult your email regularly to stay up to date with student affairs and notifications. Students also have access to Google Drive – a cloud storage service with a file-sharing capacity and 30GB of memory. This eliminates the need to use external storage devices such as USB sticks, minimizing the risk for viruses and losing your data, and allows you to sync your data on all your devices.

Internet at the UA (Wi-Fi)
To successfully connect to the UVA-WiFi follow these instructions:
- Connect your device to the UVA-WiFi signal on the UA campus
- Select the option “Automatically connect”
- Enter the passcode (passcode will be given to students on their first day at campus)
- Click on continue to connect to the University’s WiFi
Student Life and Social Media
Study Abroad
You can choose to go to any university that is an Erasmus Partners and Non-Erasmus Partners.
Students have the opportunity to earn credits while they experience the world beyond Aruba’s shores. With the Erasmus Grant, students are fully financed; including a living and travel allowance, with no extra university fees.
To apply, fill out an application form and submit a copy of your passport to the Office of International Affairs (OIA) before the deadline listed on the form.
