On Wednesday, October 20th, we were honored to receive for the first time our Minister of Education, as well as welcome extraordinary professor Bakker and professor Noordegraaf from The Netherlands.
Please join us in welcoming these outstanding professors!
Each of them brings contemporary perspectives and expertise that will enhance and strengthen the current and future study programs we offer at our university. Our Rector, Viola Heutger, expressed that as a University, we embrace and applaud such wonderful changes where innovative thinking is inspired and nurtured.
Prof. Wieger Bakker is professor at the Utrecht University School of Governance within the faculty of Law, Economics and Governance (LEG). He holds a chair in Society Oriented Higher Education for the LEG faculty. Since September 2017 he is chair of the board of the university wide Centre for Academic Teaching. In December 2018 he was appointed Dean for Lifelong Learning for Utrecht University
Next to his work at Utrecht University he holds the following additional positions. June 2020 he was appointed Extraordinary Professor Governance, Community and Cohesion at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the University of Aruba (www.ua.aw). Furthermore he is deputy director general of the Inter University Centre Dubrovnik, Croatia (www.iuc.hr) and guest professor at the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic).
Prof. Dr. Mirko Noordegraaf (1969) is Professor of Public Management at the Department of Management and Organization Science (USBO) of Utrecht University. From 2012 to 2018 he was Chair of the Board of the Department of USBO, currently (as of Sept. 2018) he is Vice Dean Social Impact of the Faculty REBO. He is also chair of the chair group of Public Administration Science, or Public Governance & Management (PGM), within USBO.
Within the USBO he is connected to the research program ‘Public Matters: Co-creating Public Value’. His research takes place in the sectors police & justice, care, education. Within Utrecht University he was a member of the core team of the focus area ‘Professional Performance’, and he is one of the initiators of the IOS-hub ‘Security in open societies’.
He led several commissioned research projects, including on “Governance Cultures”, “Counterterrorism Strategy”, “Terrorism and Emergency”, “Resilient Open Society”, “General Administration Department (ABD) Evaluation”.
