Meet a research team that definitely is!
November 2021
The COVID-CAS research team of Aruba.
The COVID-CAS research is conducted together with the Universities of Curaçao, Aruba, Sint Maarten and Utrecht, and the Curaçao Biomedical & Health Research Foundation (CBHRI). Using a human rights-based approach this multidisciplinary study will focus on the social impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the State responses towards protecting vulnerable families (elders, women and migrants) in the Dutch Caribbean. By evaluating the performance of COVID-19 measures the research can make recommendations for future outbreaks and epidemics.
Besides the COVID-CAS research, the UA developed the Human Rights Research Clinic (HRRC). The aim of this free elective is to expand the UA students’ knowledge of human rights and their skills for conducting Human Rights research.
This is achieved by engaging students in research activities of the university that deal with human rights issues. During the clinic, students will participate in the COVIDCAS-research project. This free elective is given by UA lecturer Benedicta Deogratias from the Faculty of Law, and lecturers Mieke de Droog and Thais Franken from the Faculty of Arts and Science.
We wish the COVID-CAS research team and the HRRC students much success in this process! You can do it.
