Mission

CQA ensures that all the activities, procedures and operational processes of educational programs, faculties and management systems of the overall institution meet international quality standards.

In order to accomplish the above, CQA plans, develops, coordinates, supports, and monitors the direction and implementation of the UA quality improvement and innovation initiatives. CQA is also the UA contact for Accreditation Agencies and other external auditing bodies and coordinates quality assurance site visits to the UA.

Vision

CQA is a trusted partner in achieving international standards of accreditation through safeguarding quality assurance and quality enhancement activities and processes of all educational and research programs of the University of Aruba.

The core directive of the CQA department is to initiate, coordinate and support quality assurance activities at both the faculty and institutional level that lead to continuous quality improvement for the student, teaching and professional staff. The outcome is the enhancement of the human interaction and experience at the UA in terms of learning and teaching, research, institutional administration and service to the community.

Strategic Plan 2024 – 2027

In 2023, CQA collaborated to develop a strategic plan for the coming four years based on
the Strategic Direction of the UA 2023 – 2028. Our Strategic Plan 2024 – 2027 serves as a

comprehensive roadmap outlining the UA’s commitment to ensuring and enhancing the quality of education and academic standards. Through this strategic plan, CQA aims to uphold excellence in teaching and all aspects of the academic experience. The strategic plan is rooted in a thorough understanding of our institutional values, goals, and the evolving landscape of higher education. It reflects extensive collaboration and input from stakeholder across the university including the Board of Trustees, the rectorate, the Advisory Board, the Business Director and the offices & centers. Key objectives of this strategic plan include quality assurance, quality enhancement; professionalization and educational & institutional research.

Achieving accreditation is a significant milestone for any program or institution, signaling a commitment to quality and excellence in education or service delivery. Accreditation from a recognized accrediting body is a quality label that not only validates the quality of the program but also enhances its reputation and credibility within the industry.

The Center for Quality Assurance plays a crucial role in guiding programs through this process, providing personalized support, resources, and expertise every step of the way.
