Human Rights and Environmental Law
Description:
This lecture explores the evolving relationship between human rights and environmental law, highlighting the urgent need to address global environmental challenges through a human rights lens. We will explore how environmental harm affects fundamental human rights, including the right to health and life. Special attention will be given to recent ECtHR rulings and key court cases within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, where environmental justice has played a pivotal role.
Speaker:
Professor of Human Rights Law at Radboud University Nijmegen. Jean Monnet Chair on the Rule of Law in the national and EU legal orders (EURoLNAT) and director of the research center for State and Law (SteR).
