Strategic Talent Management: Modern Leadership & HRM
As business world and societies are changing, the search for talent need an update to identify, attract, retain and develop talent. Strategic talent management is more critical than ever. This master class sheds light on leading principles in organizations that strive to optimize the return on investment in people. Talent Management and leading people are at the core of the future of every organization. These aspects are two different sides of the same coin. Insights from academic research are shared with those who are responsible for the people agenda in organizations.
During this lecture this will be illustrated by Lidewey van der Sluis, full professor and thought leader in this field. She will take a relational approach to show how organizations work as ecosystems of people that function, move, and adapt. She will highlight the impact of mindset in the workplace as well as perceptions, emotions and relations. The relevance of having a shared purpose and a common goal in the organisation will be underlined as the glue in the organisation. You will learn that it is this glue that binds and attracts talent.
The course advances critical thinking about the current state of strategic talent management (STM), demonstrating contemporary shortcomings based on current academic research and practical knowledge. It confronts modern talent management practices to discuss how leaders and HR practitioners should deal in a different way with talent and competence. The shortcomings of current talent management practices are addressed with the intent to humanize talent approaches and to develop more relational-centric policies and business principles. The issues are illustrated by a variety of conceptual models that were derived from academic research. The master class provides valuable instruments and practical insights for managers and leaders in general—including HR executives and talent management officers—as well as advanced business & management students.
